MAIDAN SHAHAR/ KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Ten militants, including a notorious commander, have been killed and four others detained in offensives in Maidan Wardak and Kandahar provinces, official said Wednesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the Maidan Wardak governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News cleanup operations were underway in Chak and Syedabad districts to beef up security for elections.
Five militants had been killed in the offensive in the Qadirkhel locality of Chak district, he said, adding four insurgents had also been arrested with huge arms and ammunition.
Militants stormed a police check-post in the district, leaving an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier wounded, he added.
In southern Kandahar, officials said five Taliban airstrike in Maiwand district.
