PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): An explosion next to a polling centre in the Baghlan-i-Markazi district of northern Baghlan province left one man dead and halted the process temporarily, security officials said.
Col. Qudratullah, the Baghlan police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the bomb went off at 1:40pm hundred metres from the polling station.
Eyewitness Mohammad Nasim said the explosion caused confusion among voters but the polling process resumed after a brief halt.
Khalil Naramgo, a doctor at the Baghlan-i-Markazi clinic, said, a 22 years old man with slight injuries had been brought to the facility.
Another bomb placed in a trashcan next to a high school in Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital of Baghlan, went off but caused no casualties.
