PUL-I-KHUMRI/KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Insurgents seized ballot boxes from two polling stations and threw them into a river in a border area between Baghlan and Bamyan provinces, an official said Saturday.
Independent Election Commission (IEC the ballot boxes thrown into the river belonged to two polling stations in the Tala wa Barfak district of northern Baghlan province.
Mohammad Barat, a resident of Tala wa Barfak area, said insurgents intercepted a vehicle transporting ballot boxes and snatched three boxes and threw them into the river.
Nuristani said voting at the two polling stations in Tala wa Barfak had been temporarily halted and would restart once the problem was addressed.
Meanwhile, Kunduz police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini said a Taliban-fired rocket at a polling station in the Chahar Dara area, injuring four election workers.
The incident occurred at around 12:30pm and the injured workers had been taken to a healthcare facility and their condition is said to be stable.
