JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The governor of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday praised Afghan National Army (ANA) and police for maintaining tight security and protecting voters on Election Day.
Maulvi Attaullah Ludin expressed satisfaction with the overall situation and said voting had conducted in a peaceful way without any report of any untoward incident.
He acknowledged some polling stations had opened hours behind schedule and others had to be closed because of security problems. But such issues were common, he observed.
But residents said dozens of polling stations in Pachiragam, Hesarak and Chaparhar districts remained closed due to multiple problems.
