ZARANJ (Pajhwok): A businessman on Sunday promised constructing a modern building for the dry port in Zaranj, the capital of southwestern Nimroz province.
Haji Nazir Ahmad, who imports commercial goods from neighboring Iran through the port, told Pajhwok Afghan News the facility lacked a proper building, which enabled traders to take away their goods arrived without paying customs duty.
That was why he decided to construct a building, he said, revealing he planned to allocate a 1,600 cubic meters land and 7 million afghanis for the purpose.
The building would have special inspection areas for all kinds of imports and modern rooms with electricity and other allied facilities, he said.
“Every Afghan trader should support the government and security forces because the government alone cannot deal with all problems,” Ahmad believed.
Corporal Abdul Waseea, who is responsible for security on the Zaranj-Laram highway, said police and customs officials lacked proper facilities at the Zaranj port to inspect imports.
