QALAT (Pajhwok): An Afghan army soldier and a child were killed and a dozen others, including 10 soldiers, wounded on Thursday when a bomb blast rocked the capital of southern Zabul province, officials said.
The explosion in Qalat apparently targeted a convoy of Afghan National Army soldiers passing in the area, the provincial police chief said.
Gen. Rogh Lewanai told Pajhwok Afghan News the bomb had been planted on a motorbike, which exploded near the army convoy. He said the injured soldiers and civilians had been taken to the Civil Hospital.
Dr. Lal Mohammad, who was on duty at the hospital, said they had been delivered the body of a child and eight wounded people.
