KABUL again outclassed Tajikistan 3-0 in their three sets second and final match of a friendship volleyball cup played in Kabul on Saturday.
The Afghans, who defeated the tourists 3-0 in the previous encounter two days ago, clinched the series 2-0 at the gymnasium of the Olympic Committee.
Afghanistan volleyball federation chief Muhammad Yunas Popalzai, said the friendly matches were aimed at improving skills and learning from each other.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News “I am very happy that our team has won two matches and owned the cup.”
It was for the first time Afghanistan was hosting a foreign volleyball team, he said, adding inviting foreign teams for friendly matches would improve Afghan volleyball team’s capacity.
A member of the Afghan team, Ahmad Seer, called the victory a big achievement and said they had a tough practice session ahead of the matches.
“We can compete and win in international events,” he said, asking the government to provide Afghan sportsmen with more facilities.
