KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Complaint Commission (IECC) on Wednesday held a public hearing on assessing votes cast at 525 polling sites, an official said.

Representatives of presidential runners, human rights and civil society institutions, media and observers attended the meeting. IECC Chairman Abdul Sattar Sadat said the meeting focused on access to 230,000 votes.

He added 125 complaints had been lodged against preliminary results, most of them raised by the leading candidate, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

Nine of the complaints that were recorded against the Independent Election Commission (IEC) would be assessed in presence of representatives of candidates.
