KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Fourteen militants linked to the Haqqani Network have been arrested and a large amount of weapons seized from them during a search operation in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Monday.
The militants were detained by National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel during a special raid, the governor’s spokesman Mubariz Mohammad Zadran told reporters in Khost City.
He accused the detainees of their involvement in bomb blasts and organising suicide and group attacks on security forces and government offices.
The official claimed the detainees had confessed to their crimes during initial investigations.
Security officials said the detainees had been attempting to disturb the April 5 presidential and provincial council elections, but security forces foiled their attempts.
