SHARANA/GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A dozen militants were killed during separate clashes with police in southeastern Paktika provinces, officials said on Tuesday.
Six militants were killed and seven others wounded during a clash with police in the Sara Roza district, the provincial police chief said.
Maj. Ghulam Nabi Jan told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash erupted after militants stormed an Afghan Local Police (ALP) post in the area.
Another six militants, including foreigners, were killed and four others wounded during clashes with police in Shkin village of the Barmal district, border police official Raz Mohammad Mukhlis said.
In southern Ghazni province, one child was killed and four others wounded as a result of a mortar attack in Rabat area of Deh Yak district, the governor’s spokesman said.
With the Taliban yet to comment on the incident, Shafiq Nang blamed the rebels for regularly targeting civilians.
