MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Judicial officials on Thursday said some individuals holding government positions in northern Balkh province continued to violate the law of the land.
Participants of a gathering jointly arranged by the Governor’s House and the Justice Department were distributed a set of laws passed during the third legislative term.
On the occasion, Justice Director Syed Mohammad Jafar Misbah told Pajhwok Afghan News they had distributed the new set of laws not only to judicial organs but to all other government entities.
He said the third legislative term laws had been circulated to the justice, judicial and the executive departments and all the 14 provincial units at a previous gathering.
Misbah said the laws had been made available in the bazaar in form of booklets for free distribution to the common people so that they could read them.
He said it was the job of the Ministry of Law to print laws and distribute them to justice and judicial organs and made them available free of cost to the masses in the market.
He said there were two kinds of law violations – one taking laws into one’s own hands and the second by law enforcers themselves. He said it was unfortunate that both kinds prevailed in Afghanistan.
About law violations in Balkh, he said there were still elements that despite possessing government positions tended to break laws.
Residents hailed free distribution of booklets containing the new laws, but called for such books to be available in abundance.
A resident of Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, Mohammad Salim said there were still many laws about which common people had no idea.
He said efforts were required to make aware the public about laws so that they could understand and practice them when needed.
