KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The governor of northern Kunduz province on Wednesday said foreign Taliban were involved in fighting with security forces in Dasht-i-Archi district to disturb the election process.
Ghulam Sakhi Baghlani told Pajhwok Afghan News insurgents from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Chechnya — wearing masks — were involved in recent clashes in the province.
The governor said the foreign militants had come to Kunduz with a clear agenda to disturb the election process. The residents of Dasht-i-Archi also confirmed the presence of foreign fighters in the area.
Baghlani said ongoing clearing operations in the province would continue until all the militants were flushed out.
