BAMYAN (Pajhwok): The Ulama council in central Bamyan province called election a religious and national responsibility to be discharged by the people by actively participating in second round of the polls.

The council in a statement asked people to take part in June, 14, ballot to elect their next president.

They called the process extremely significant and decisive, stressing ballot was of great importance in the country’s current situation.

One member of the council, Juma Khan Mehdavi, told Pajhwok Afghan News they issued the announcement as they found the turnout in the second round would not be so attractive.

Ayatullah Muhaqiq said their office in Kabuli also released made similar announcements through its office in Bamyan in which all Afghans had been urged to vote in favor of a candidate of their choice in the June, 14, election.

He urged people to throng to polling centres on Election Day without ethnic, religious and linguistic differences.
