CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A former governor and sitting lawmaker on Sunday survived a bomb attack that killed a minor girl standing nearby in central Parwan province, police said.
Syed Hussain Anwari, a member of the Wolesi Jirga and a former governor of western Herat province, was travelling in the Seyah Gard district of Parwan when came under attack.
The district police chief, Col Yar Mohammad, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place Ghorban valley at 5pm when Anwari was passing through Somanchi area.
He said the lawmaker was unharmed but a young girl was killed in the blast. Anwari, who leads a political party, has recently endorsed Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in the June 14 runoff presidential election.
