FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Presidential runner Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday pledged to construct Kabul-Herat highway if won the runoff vote. The highway would help bolster tourism in the country.
Addressing a gathering in Lalwa Sar Jangal district of western Ghor province, Abdullah said the construction of the highway was not only the demand of the people of central zone but he would bolster economy of the country.
There are historical sites located on this highway such as the minarets of Ghor, Band-i-Amir and others, he said, adding that the construction of the highway would help attract tourists.
Syed Nadir Shah Bahar, lawmaker from Ghor province, said people backed reforms and anonymity team and they demanded the construction of Gardan Diwar Road and a dam.
Last week, Abdullah also visited Firozkoh, provincial capital and urged residents to participate actively in the June 14 vote.
