PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Three individuals planning bomb attacks during Saturday’s runoff election have been detained in central Logar province, a police official said on Friday.
Col. Sher Daud Zarin told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees had been tasked with conducting bomb attacks in Khoshi and Mohammad Agha districts, as well as the provincial capital, Pul-i-Alam.
He said 35 landmines, a heavy machinegun and three Kalashnikov assault rifle had been seized from the trio. The landmines are being defused.
The Logar police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai, said of the 83 polling sites across the province, six would remain shut due to security threats in Azra and Baraki Barak districts.
