KABUL (Pajhwok): A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted parts of the capital Kabul and other provinces on Saturday.
According to US Geology Survey (USGS), the earthquake took place at 8:28 am. Its epicenter was located in Jurm district of northeastern Badakhshan province. However, there were no reports of men and material losses. Panic gripped residents of the capital and other parts of the country.
Afghanistan is one of the countries located on the earthquake zone; particularly its northeastern regions are most vulnerable. An earthquake in 2012 in eastern Afghanistan caused many casualties.
