FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A 94-year-old man, after casting his vote in northeastern Badakhshan province, said on Saturday he considered franchise as a national responsibility.
Makhdoom Niamatullah reached a polling station at a school in Shahr-i-Kohna area of Faizabad with the help of his grandson to vote. He had also cast his ballot in the April 5 elections.
A large number of people queuing up for their turn offered Makhdoom to come forward and cast his vote. “Voting is my right and I cast the ballot in favour of Dr. Abdullah,” he said.
The nonagenarian urged his countrymen to participate in the nation-building process. He asked the next president to ensure security and create job opportunities for youth.
