GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The Pakistani military has fired rockets into the Dand-i-Patan district of southeastern Paktia province, where a clash is ongoing, an official said on Saturday.
Police chief Brig. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the skirmish began early in the morning when Pakistani forces targeted border police check-posts.
He said no causalities had been reported in the district, where the voting process was in progress at all polling stations.
Meanwhile, IEC official in Paktia said around 212 polling stations had opened in the province and people were taking active part in the election.
Last night, Pakistani forces fired 15 rockets into Dangam and Shigal districts of eastern Kunar province, Governor Shujaul Mulk Jalala said.
