LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Two employees of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and a policeman were gunned down when militants attacked a convoy transferring ballot boxes in southern Helmand province on Monday, the provincial police chief said.
Maj. Gen. Abdul Qayyum Baqizoy told Pajhwok Afghan News the convoy was transferring ballot papers from Nawzad district to Lashkargah, the provincial capital. The attack occurred at 1pm.
Separately, militants fired on the convoy ferrying ballot boxes from Sangin and Kajaki districts, killing a policeman and wounding a driver. However, the ballot boxes were not damaged in the attack.
