GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Four university students were abducted by armed rebels in southern Ghazni province on Thursday, local officials said.
The Kabul-bound students were seized after being disembarked from a vehicle in the Rawza area on outskirts of Ghazni City, the provincial capital.
Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News efforts were being made to secure the safe release of the captives.
Ghazni peace committee secretary, Khalil Hotak, confirmed the incident. He said the insurgents aimed to force the government into accepting their demands.
“We have sent tribal elders to the Taliban and hope to hear good news,” Hotak said, urging the captors not to irk people.
