KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A district chief was killed in a roadside bombing in southern Kandahar province on Friday, as security official said.
Haji Ali Mohammad, the administrative head of Nish district, was travelling in Miankoh area, where his motorcycle hit the roadside bomb at 9am, the police spokesman said.
Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident was being investigated. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
Elsewhere in Kandahar, four Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed in a similar explosion in Zherai district.
Durrani said the fatalities happened when an ALP patrol vehicle struck a landmine in the Siah Choi area of the district. The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the blast.
