KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A suicide bomber in a car attacked a vehicle carrying International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) personnel in the Zheri district of southern Kandahar province on Friday, only killing himself, an official said.
Dawan Khan Minapal, the governor’s spokesman, said the bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into the vehicle of foreign troops in Hozmadad locality. There were no casualties among foreign troops but their vehicle was completely damaged.
ISAF has not yet commented on the incident but the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack. The insurgent group said an ISAF armored vehicle was completely damaged and all soldiers onboard were killed.
Eyewitnesses said foreign forces had cordoned off the site and closed the Herat-Kandahar highway for traffic since 9:00 am.
