ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Hundreds of girls participated in entry tests for midwifery and nursing courses in the eastern province of Kunar, authorities said on Monday.
Dr. Assadullauh Fazli, head of the provincial public health department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that some 61 girls would be trained as midwives and nurses.
He said that seven Pakistani midwives were rendering services at different hospitals across the province and there was a need for female medics at 13 more health clinics.
Fazli added at least 130 girls from Asadabad and districts participated in the entry tests. Dr. Ihsanullah, in charge of the course, said successful candidates would be posted in their respective localities.
