SHARAN (Pajhwok): The crime branch chief of the Orgun district of southeastern Paktika province was killed in a suicide attack, an official said on Thursday.

The incident happened close to a police check post in main bazaar of the district late Wednesday, Police Chief Brig. Gen. Nabi Jan Mullakhel told Pajhwok Afghan News.  He said seven others, including four policemen, were injured in the attack.

“Police ordered a suspected van to stop for routine search in the area but the individual onboard detonated the vehicle instead,” he added.

Unconfirmed reports say provincial Afghan Local Police (ALP) general commander, Azizullah Karwan was also injured in the car-bombing.

A doctor on duty at provincial hospital confirmed receiving seven injured, with one of them in critical condition.

Taliban are yet to comment on the incident.
