GARDEZ/KANDAHAR CITY/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 10 people were killed and 12 others wounded in separate security incidents in different parts of the country on Saturday, officials said.
A roadside bombing left dead eight people of a family, including five women, and wounded two children in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, a police spokesman said.
Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast occurred on a passenger vehicle in Naukhani locality at 10:00am.
Elsewhere, nine people were wounded in an explosion in a fruit and vegetable market in the Chamkani district of southeastern Paktia province, district police chief Maj. Syed Hassan Nangarhari said.
The injured, he said, were shifted to hospital, with one of them in critical condition. He said an investigation into the incident had been launched.
Separately, two people were killed and a child wounded following an explosion in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, said the deputy police chief, Col. Lutfullah Zaryab.
The blast took place at around 9:00 am on the outskirts of the third police district. The explosives attached to a motorbike went off at a time when a vehicle of the Afghan National Army (ANA) was passing the area. The blast left a sergeant injured and damaged several vehicles.
