JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A suicide bomber mounted an attack on a convoy of the NATO-led coalition forces in eastern Nangarhar province, leaving two children wounded, an official said Sunday.
The incident took place late Saturday evening when the suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden car near the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) convoy in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, the police spokesman said.
Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News two children were injured in the blast but he had no information whether or not the foreign troops had suffered any casualties.
But ISAF said in a statement: “We can confirm that enemy forces attempted a suicide attack on an International Security Assistance Force convoy in eastern Afghanistan last night. The attacker was killed and there were no other fatalities.”
As usual, Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said a large number of foreign forces were killed in the incident.
