KABUL (Pajhwok): Dozens of people rallied in Kabul on Friday against deadly in Israel attacks on the innocent Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and called for an immediate halt to what they called naked aggression.
The protestors gathered in the Deh Mazang area of the capital city and marched to the Habiba High School in the 6th police district. A declaration was issued at the end of the demonstration.
Mohammad Ali Mohaqiq, one of the protestors, told Pajhwok Afghan News they vehemently denounced the silence of human rights organisations and the United Nations over Israel’s airstrikes.
“Human rights champions and the UN always raise the slogan of democracy. But they have been tight-lipped on the Zionist regime’s deadly attacks against the Palestinians,” he regretted.
The Islamic world must do all it could to defend Palestine, the first Qibla for all Muslims, stressed Mohaqiq, who slammed Tel Aviv for making life miserable for the residents of the Gaza Strip and other parts of that country.
Abdullah Rahimi, another protester, called for the OIC and the international community to take concrete action to end the Gaza conflict and support Palestinians’ rights. He condemned the Israeli attacks as an unforgivable crime.
Participants of the peaceful protests, shouting “Death to Israel, Death to Zionism, We support Palestinians and Long live Palestine”, torched Israel’s flag. In a unanimous resolution, they sought support to the Palestinians.
Earlier in the week, the Karzai administration announced $500,000 in humanitarian assistance to the oppressed people of Gaza.
