QALA-I-NAW/HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Twenty-three fighters were killed in drone strikes by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the west of the country, officials said Sunday.
Twelve insurgents were killed and three others wounded in an overnight raid in the Sang Yakhak locality of Qala-i-Naw, the capital of northwestern Badghis province, Sharafuddin Majidi, the governor’s chief of staff, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Separately, 11 militants were killed and six others wounded in a separate attack in the Oba district of western Herat province.
The attack took place Saturday night in Naik locality, Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi said.
Taliban have not yet commented on the attacks.
