FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Three border policemen, including their commander, were killed in a roadside bombing in the Ashkimish district of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said Sunday.
Ahmad Navid Frotan, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Col. Abdul Khalil and three policemen were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Kunkad village. The police officials were on their way to district headquarter.
Three suspected had been detained in connection with the blast and were being interrogated, he added.
As usual, Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident, with the group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said five policemen, including their commander, were killed in the blast.
