GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The Taliban publicly shot dead a man allegedly involved in theft and killing cases in the Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province, the town’s administrative chief said on Friday.
Karimullah told Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants sprayed Zulfi, the alleged killer and thief, with bullets in the Kolgo locality of the district late on Thursday.
Around 1,000 people witnessed the execution. Asadullah, a dweller of the area, said the insurgents announced to the gathering the man was involved in killing and theft cases.
Prior to the execution, the militants announced “the alleged criminal had barged into a house the other day and committed theft besides killing a male member of the family. A relative of the slain man opened fire on the criminal before the Taliban shot him multiple times.”
At least 50 militants were deployed to ensure security when they were carrying out the execution. However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
