MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Hundreds of Afghans on Friday rallied in central Kabul and northern Balkh provinces against deadly Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strips.
Residents of the central capital and the Balkh-based Islamic Brotherhood Council organised the protests against the killing of hundreds of Palestinians.
Around 500 people, walking down Kabul streets, called for an immediate end to the airstrikes against unarmed Palestinians and action against the Jewish state.
One of the protestors, Murtaza, told Pajhwok Afghan New the demonstrators marched from Mazari Square to the Mirwais Ground. They asked the UN to secure a truce and stop Tel Aviv’s aggression.
In the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, a protest meeting was held at the Hazrat Ali (RA) mausoleum. The participants torched the Israeli flag and chanted slogans against the Jewish state.
Islamic Brotherhood Council Chairman Mohammad Shah Adili said the gathering had been held as a token of solidarity with the Palestinian brethren. He expected the Afghan government would further strengthen relations with Palestine.
