2 injured as inmates clash with jail guards

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Taliban inmates clashed with security guards inside the Shiberghan jail in northern Jawzjan province, setting the logistic part on fire on Wednesday.

A correspondent of Pajhwok Afghan News reported from the area heavy gunfire was heard in the central jail at noon. The prison had been cordoned off by security forces and local officials.

Provincial crime branch chief, Capt. Mohammad Rahim, said the clash took place when 20 inmates were ordered to shift to a Balkh jail. The clash ended after two hours of violence leaving a guards and two of the inmates injured.
