HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Eight civilians have been rescued from Taliban’s captivity in western Herat province, an official said on

Police spokesman Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the individuals had been kidnapped a day earlier on their way from Herat City to Ghoryan district.
The civilians were disembarked from the vehicle they were travelling in, according to the police spokesman, who said the security personnel conducted an operation in the district and rescued them from the captors.
Ahmadi added the Taliban kept the captives in a mountainous area of the district. Police and civilian escaped unhurt in the rescue operation, he concluded. The Taliban are yet to comment on the issue.
