FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Eight militants have been killed and 10 others wounded during an operation in the Pasaband district of western Ghor province, a security official said on Monday.
The insurgents’ bodies were still lying at the scene of the two-day offensive, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Fahim Qaim, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said 20 villages, including Sangan area, had been cleared of fighters as a result of the offensive, he said, adding residents also cooperated with the security personnel.
Bordering the Baghran district of Helmand province, Sangan fell to the Taliban some 45 days back. But the security forces have driven the guerrillas from the village, according to Gen. Qaim.
