ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Fierce clashes between security forces and militants in eastern Nuristan have cut off Doab district from the rest of the province on Wednesday, an official said.
Col. Sherzad, deputy police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News because of the disruption of communications he had no information whether the district was in security forces’ control or had fallen to militants.
Heavy fighting had been reported on Tuesday between militants and security forces, which claimed the lives of two policemen and five insurgents.
However, a source wishing anonymity said the district had been in control of Taliban since Wednesday’s morning.
