ASADABAD (Pajhwok): One public order policeman was killed and two others wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Manogai district of eastern Kunar province on Friday.
Provincial Police Chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel said the incident occurred in the Lechlam locality of the district. The explosion left the vehicle completely damaged, he added.
Syedkhel said the wounded had been struggling for life. Militants had planted roadside bombs in the province, he alleged.
But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, claiming responsibility for the attack, said that four policemen had been killed.
Also on Friday, the Pakistani military fired 55 rockets into Dangam, Shigal, Marawara and Sarkano districts. The latest attack left one person wounded.
