PUL-I-ALAM/QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): At least 15 Taliban (TTP), have been killed in clashes and drone strikes in central Logar and eastern Kunar provinces, officials said on Saturday.
The airstrikes were carried out in the Sar Malim Kala locality of Charkh district and the Amirak area of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, the Logar police chief said.
Brig. Gen Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone attack left eight insurgents dead.
Elsewhere, six TTP militants, including notorious commander Adalat, were killed in an overnight drone strike in the Dangam district of Kunar, police chief Brig. Gen Abdul Habib Syedkhel said.
Mullah Muhammad Hassan, a Taliban commander, was killed by militants in northwestern Badghis province, said Haji Abdul Hamid Shakib, the provincial council chief.
Hassan was shot dead and two of his friends kidnapped for their initiative to join the government-initiated peace process. Militants barged into Hassan’s house in the Qala-i-Chashma.
