QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): An Afghan Local Police (ALP) member was killed and five civilians were wounded in a landmine blast in the Maqur district of western Badghis province on Saturday, police said.
Brig. Gen. Amir Shah Naib, the public order police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion occurred in the Gulchin locality of the district.
Soon after the blast, a police contingent rushed to the scene to evacuate the victims to hospital, he added. He blamed insurgents for planting roadside bombs, which caused civilian casualties.
The injured, rushed to Badghis Civil Hospital, were in stable condition. Mullah Tor Gul, an eyewitness, also confirmed the casualties.
