ZARANJ (Pajhwok): The construction of two large warehouses at the Customs Department in southwestern Nimroz province has been completed, an official said on Sunday.
Customs Director Wais Sultani told Pajhwok Afghan News each warehouse had been constructed on 1,500 square metres area and each had the capacity to store 30 containers.
The warehouses also have storage facilities for medicine and other vulnerable materials, he said.
Abdul Sattar, who imports garments and electrical goods from China, said previously they lacked the facilities to protect their goods from sunlight and dust.
Work on a new car parking area has also been launched at the dry port in Nimroz. The park is estimated to cost $2 million and is being constructed on 15 acres of land with a timescale of one year.
The revenue of the customs department increased during the first six months of the ongoing financial year, compared with the income during the same period last year.
The half yearly revenue reached more than 5.5 billion afghanis, showing a one billion increase.
