JALALABAD/MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): Work on a number of development projects of public welfare has been launched in eastern Nangarhar and central Maidan Wardak provinces, officials said Wednesday.

Director of Public Health Dr. Najib Kamawal told Pajhwok Afghan News five projects worth $950 million had been launched inside the Jalalabad Civil Hospital. The projects include gravelling of roads and footpaths and reconstruction of the emergency ward and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In addition, the old building where Indoor patients were treated would also be repaired, he added. The schemes will be completed in one year, he pledged, saying that the money would be released by the Ministry of Public Health.
