TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Five local police were killed in two separate incidents in central Uruzgan province, an official said Sunday.
Three police officials were killed by their colleagues in Sangar area on Saturday night, the administrative head of Chaharchino, Ismail, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
After assassinating his colleagues, the policeman managed to flee, he said, adding that police had been conducting raids to nab the killer.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, said the killer policeman was affiliated to rebels’ ranks who joined them after killing the policemen.
Three Afghan Local Police (ALP) were killed and as many wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb on Saturday night, Dehraud district police chief, Abdul Razzaq, said. He said an ALP commander Anar was among the injured.
He added the injured were in stable condition. But Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed five ALP officials had been killed in the blast.
