SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Three Taliban bomb-making experts, including a commander, were killed in a blast caused by their own explosives while two others insurgents were killed separately during a clash with police in northwestern Jawzjan province, officials said Sunday.
Police chief Col. Syed Zamanuddin Hussaini told Pajhwok Afghan News the three militants were killed when the roadside bomb they were planting on the Shiberghan-Qush Tapa highway went off in the afternoon. A Taliban commander, Mohibullah Sangaryar, was among the dead, he said.
In the same area, another two militants were killed during a clash with police, Hussaini said.
A local resident, Mohammad Eshan, said: “Taliban militants were planting bombs on the road when one of the devices exploded, killing three of them.”
In a similar incident, two militants were wounded in Batoi area of Darzab district.
Hussaini said two more militants carrying ammunitions, remote-controlled bombs and some documents had been arrested by police.
