SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) expressed grave concerns over growing incidents of killing, persecution and harassment by illegal armed men in some parts of the country.
AIHRC Director Maghfirat Samimi said the people of Jawzjan, Sar-i-Pul and Faryab provinces were more affected by the atrocities committed to them by armed groups. She demanded the government to disarm illegal groups.
She said dozens of cases such as killing of spouses and another three members of a family by an illegal armed commander had been gunned down in Sar-i-Pul province during the last one year.
Col. Sakhidad Haidari, deputy police chief, pledged police would detain and disarm illegal commanders and other individuals.
