KABUL (Pajhwok): An Afghan National Army (ANA) plane ran into a wall in central Uruzgan province on Sunday evening, killing one person and injuring eight others, an official said.
The incident occurred in Gizab district where the ANA aircraft went out of control during landing at the district airport, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Dost Mohammad Nayab, linking the accident to a technical fault, said the injured included a pilot and six personnel of the Quick Reaction Force (QRF).
But ANA commander Gen. Mohammad Rasa Kandahari said one crewmember was killed and eight people, including two pilots and six QRF members, sustained injuries.
The injured were evacuated to the Tirinkot Civil Hospital, where they are said to be in stable condition. He said three aircraft had flown security forces to Gizab for a counterinsurgency operation.
One of the planes developed some fault while landing and went out of control, causing the casualties, the military commander said.
