MAIMANA/SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Five Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and an influential individual have been killed in separate security incidents in Jawzjan and Faryab provinces, officials said on Thursday.
A security official, wishing not to be named, confided Pajhwok Afghan News that the five ANA soldiers were killed when their pick=up struck a roadside bomb in the Almar district of Faryab.
However, ANA Commander Gen. Shirin Shah Kohbandi said he was unaware of the casualties. He added that three civilians were killed in a roadside bombing in Almar in the morning.
On the other hand, Taliban’s spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed killing six Afghan soldiers in a roadside bomb attack in Almar.
According to another report, an influential individual was killed in the Aqcha district of Jawzjan province. Police chief Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani said Mohammad Yousuf Cholagh was killed by militants in Aqcha.
But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the slain individual was an Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander, who killed by two fighters on motorcycles.
