KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan footballers tasted a second defeat in a row in their Asian Games campaign on Thursday when they were defeated by Hong Kong 2-1 in South Korea.
Afghanistan were defeated by Bangladesh 1-0 in an earlier match at the Munhak Stadium in Incheon. Thursday’s encounter saw Hong Kong hitting the net twice in the first half, with the Afghans failing to score any goal.
However, the Afghans played comparatively well in the second half of the game as skipper Islamuddin struck a goal. Hong Kong won the match 2-1.
Afghanistan are scheduled to take on Uzbekistan in their next football match. The Afghanistan-A cricket team and a number of athletes are taking part in the Asian Olympics.
