KABUL, has got under way in the central capital Kabul, organisers said on Saturday.
The Million League event, arranged by the Loba Cricket Community (LCC), began on Friday. The contest would last a week, LCC chief Zarab Shah Zaheer told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said two teams from Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province were participating in the competition. One of the foreign teams, MCC, tasted defeat at the hands of Al-Masafi Club in the opener.
Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Officer Noor Mohammad Murad, Deputy Minister of Commerce Muzamil Shinwari, Finance Ministry Advisor Najib Manalai and others attended the opening ceremony.
Murad praised the private sector for organising the event as a positive step toward promoting cricket in Afghanistan. He said the ACB was ready to offer its assistance in holding such competitions.
