Insurgents gun down doctor in Kunar

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A doctor engaged in an anti-polio campaign has been killed by militants in eastern Kunar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Provincial police chief, Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Watapur district.

The doctor, Fazal Rahman, was promoting public awareness about vaccination in the area. He came under attack while returning home.

The militants stopped his car and shot him to death. Syedkhel condemned the murder, saying an investigation was underway.
