PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): An Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander was killed on Wednesday when a magnetic bomb attached to his vehicle went off near the capital of central Logar province, officials said.
Ghufran was travelling in his private car from his home towards the provincial capital, Pul-i-Alam, when the bomb fixed to his car exploded in Kolangar area at about 4pm, Logar police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Suspecting a family dispute, Ishaqzai said an investigation into the incident had been opened.
Giving an eyewitness account, a resident of the area, Sabir, told Pajhwok Afghan News that it was a powerful explosion that destroyed the ALP commander’s car and damaged several nearby shops.
There was no immediate claim of reasonability for the blast that followed a landmine explosion targeting a former Logar crime branch police chief in the Mohammad Agha district. The ex-crime branch chief escaped unhurt in the blast.
